Heine’s first volume of poetry, entitled “Gedichte” or Poems, was published in , the poems being those which, under the name of “Youthful Sorrows,” now form the opening of his “Book . Translated by various German language and Heine scholars. Part I Lyric Poetry presents German verse on the verso and English translation on the recto; Part II Narrative Prose and Part III Epic Poetry are English-only. The Poems of Heinrich Heine. I saw some quotes from this book in the Jewish Museum in Berlin but was unable to buy an English version.
Once home I ordered it through Amazon and I am very pleased with the book/5(3). Christian Johann Heinrich Heine was one of the most significant German poets of the 19th century.
